Press knocks Cheney over warm dress for Auschwitz ceremony

See! The press WANTS the Vice-President to catch something and keel over!

Vice President Dick Cheney's utilitarian hooded parka and boots stood out amid the solemn formality of a ceremony commemorating the liberation of Nazi death camps, raising eyebrows among the fashion-conscious.

Washington Post fashion writer Robin Givhan described Cheney's look at the deeply moving 60th anniversary service as "the kind of attire one typically wears to operate a snow blower."

I don't know about you, but I'd rather be warm and healthy in awful weather than look good and be 'bout ready to keel over.

20 people on The Dead Pool think Cheney will keel over anyway.

Hey, the man's sickly. He's always been in poor health. Can't blame him for decking out like that.

Evil press!

Are these critics the same lunatics who critized Cheney for taking a flu shot? At least until they discovered that Bill Clinton had taken one as well? If you have had heart problems, the only smart thing to do is protect yourself from the cold weather and try to prevent such problems as influenza!

Hey, that coat looks to be USAF standard issue, at least at Minot AFB. It's probably standard issue at all the northern tier bases.

It's not a fur trimmed coat. The white boarder and green inside is synthetic. It is a very good winter coat. It's kept me warm when the temperature plunges down to -30, with the wind chill pushes it into the -70 to -80's. The "fur" trim helps catch the wind on the hood and protect your face.
