PJ close to death?

Unconfirmed reports this evening from sources inside ABC News, say that World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings is close to death.

Jennings announced he had been diagnosed with lung cancer in April, and has not been on the air since. Anchor duties have rotated between several anchors, most notably Good Morning America co-anchor Charles Gibson.

Yeah, I suspected as much when he first announced the cancer. It's a tough one to recover from. I figured no matter what, he wasn't coming back to his anchor job.

As a former smoker, I feel for the guy, though. I'm still terrified I may get it. I smoked a long, long time.

I smoked from 1966 to 1994. What a stupid thing to start. I never cared much for Peter Jennings, but I would not wish cancer on anyone.

I myself never cared much for Jenning's leftest leaning in the news but as an R.N., I feel for him and his family. Death from lung cancer is slow, painful and ugly. God's speed Peter, I'll see you o the other side and we'll have some spirited debates.

Denzil, u might want to pray that he repents of that awful leftist hit-piece he did on Christ a few years ago. Or else u might be seeing him somewhere u don't wanna be.

If the Lord had mercy on me....He surely will
on Peter....let's pray that Peter's prepared
for eternity

My sister in law died earlier this year of lung cancer (at 48, never smoked). She had it for about four years and just never got better, just worse. She had wanted to see her daughter graduate from college, but she died 2 months too early. PJ and his family are in our prayers as we know what is going on (more or less).

Whether or not you agreed with him, let's all pray that these rumors are false. Let's pray for Peter Jennings to beat his cancer for once and for all, and for him to make a triumphant return to "World News Tonight".

Ok, lets not get carried away here. (jofus) Nobody wants him to die, but lets not forget that he was a mouthpiece for the ultra-left who twisted the news to fit his own personal liberal ideology; thus decieving millions.

It's a terrible way to go. I think all leftists should be killed painlessly, especially Canadians.

Peter Jennings is the consummate professional for whom I have grown to admire and rely on over the years. Though I didn't always agree with his decidedly liberal point of view, his demeanor was nonetheless respectful of every single person.

Three years ago, my father succumbed due to emphazema after 40 years of smoking. Though he did quit smoking approximately 10 years before his death, the evils that tobacco played on his body had already taken its toll. Sadly, a few months before his death and whenever gasping for breath, he would look at me with sad eyes and say over and again how much he wished he could just remove his head so that he could inhale just one deep breath.

My prayers go out to Peter Jennings and his family. Please, if you smoke now, seek help to stop this lethal habit before it's too late.

Looks to me that there really are people out there that would like to see a person die just because of something they said. Pretty shallow individuals. Just remember....what goes around comes around.

I will pray for Peter and all others who have the mis-fortune of contracting any deadly life shortening disease.

Looks like we have Joe the know-it-all and fortune teller with us. Welcome, joe!

Jennings was too leftist for me no doubt. But the same Jesus that he did such a poor job of reporting on a few years ago loved him and was there if Peter chose to believe that salvation was necessary. Hope he did.

God Bless him. For years I have been wishing he would return to Canada. He was way too far left for me! I hope he chose God as his personal savior near the end. I always thought he a Barbra would have made a cute couple.

I think it very cruel to say anything about how smoking is your fault. I am an oncology nurse, and a smoker. I care for smokers, druggies, and people like you. I have seen people live and die, smokers or not.........with cancer. I honestly feel it's in the card you pull....and all of us will die someday, how will we die......in dignity or remouse, living, or dieing anyway is up to us....yes it is true there are things we can do to lessen the odds, but the world is so puluted with chemicals and everything else that WE yes WE have done, either intentionallly or unintentally.........to make money or what ever.....that we are not so innocent, just because we are non smokers. How much smoke does the automobile put out? He that is without sin......throw the first stone. I see so many who without "sin" be so hypocritical..........so without love.........that I wonder about their religion, I wonder about their purity of heart.....if you think an evil thought or say one.............how much more innnocent are you? It is good that I am not a judge........or proscecutor. So go on thinking that you are so innocent. Examine yourself .........hypocrite..........then see if humbly, and without forethought you can judge another.....you who so easily can say............die smoker....its all your fault, by what will you be judged???? Jesus forgave the sinner of ALL his trespasses...........learn that from him. or if not...........go on being a judge, lacking foregiveness......and saying that you are "good".

I was going to make a comment on some of the malicious things being said for no reason about Peter Jennings, but Pat said it perfectly. He was by no means perfect, but he was good at what he did and it marks the passing of an era.

OK, We've had the sad talking and the slow walking now let's move on. RIP Jennings.

Pat, I agree. I'm never going to smoke again, as it makes my chances work, but it can happen to anyone and it sure sucks. Ugh - cancer - I blame industrial chemicals.
