Sheehan protest moves closer to Bush's house

The Cindy Sheehan Traveling Road Show and Flying Circus is pulling up stakes and moving closer to President Bush's home in Crawford, TX.

The new site is courtesy of an unnamed sympathetic landowner who lives closer to Bush than the previous spot that Sheehan and her traveling band had staked out.

The landowner is a relative of Larry Mattlage, the local rancher who fired shots into the air Sunday, saying he was preparing for "dove season," said Sheehan, the aggrieved mother.

"This just shows me that the universe is blessing our efforts out here at Camp Casey," she said late Tuesday, referring to the camp named after her 24-year-old son.

She said demonstrators would be relocating "within the next few days."

Sheehan is demanding to speak with President Bush about the Iraq war, maintaining her claims that Bush's policies are what killed her son (as opposed to the terrorists that actually did), a soldier in Iraq. Sheehan is also part of a movement geared toward the impeachment of President Bush, despite her recent claims to the contrary, as evidenced by photographs of Sheehan in front of a bus dubbed the "Impeachment Express."

This is still a free country where people can voice their own opinions.

The President said so himself on national television.

Fortunately, that's true not only of Mrs. Sheehan, but those of us who think that "Mother Sheehan" is a wingnut.

Elizabeth, no one is suggesting that Sheehan cannot voice her own opinion. But at the same time, she is not someone in a position to demand an audience as if she were some kind of queen-bitch-goddess, contrary to what she and her ranting flock of harpies would try to have everyone believe.

It does appear that some folks do not want to hear her opinion. Also by incurring the loss of her son, she does feel that she is in a position to demand an audience with G.W. Bush. Wanting that meeting with the prez does not constitute her being a "queen-bitch-goddess" as you put it Mike, nor does it make the people who support her a "ranting flock of harpies" either. Intolerance of those who do not share your opinions does not serve the greater good. Who knows what that woman is going through with the loss of her son? Judge not and be ye not judged!

Whats really sad about this whole thing is what will happen to her after she is no longer "useful" to them.

I still don't understand WHY she needs ANOTHER meeting with Bush...she had her shot and she didn't get her views heard the way she now wants them to be heard! I am sorry that she lost a son, but I am a lot more sorry at how she (and Casey) are being used by fringe elements of the far left.

"Who knows what that woman is going through with the loss of her son?"

Thanks to 24/7 coverage of "Camp Cindy" on network news, everyone knows.

Cindy Sheehan's problem with conservatives is that she had a SON, instead of an attractive young daughter. If she had a daughter who was a)missing b)killed by her cheating husband c)sleeping with her students or d) running away from an impending marriage, I would bet conservatives would have ABSOLUTELY no problem watching her on cable newscast 24 hours a day.

ANYTHING to distract from this disaster of a war.

Again he was a man who volunteered for military service. There is no DRAFT. i THINK we should all be focused on what her sons wishers and choices were. Obviously be re enlisitng he wanted to be in Iraq. The "right" is not scared of her. We want her to keep talking.

Shari,

Is it your position that all American servicemen are EXPENDABLE, and absolutely ANY plan forwarded by the President that may result in their deaths is above criticism?
