Dean-plosion continues: says GOP is white, Christian & unfriendly
The Democratic party continued to suffer from collective indigestion, brought on by DNC Chairman Howard "YARRRGH!" Dean's foot-in-mouth disease this week.
Dean, at an appearance in San Francisco, called the GOP a white, Christian and unfriendly party.
(Dean) said in San Francisco this week that Republicans are "a pretty monolithic party. They all behave the same. They all look the same. It's pretty much a white Christian party."I'm happy to be a Christian, but last time I checked the mirror, I was as far from being white as one could get."The Republicans are not very friendly to different kinds of people," Dean said Monday, responding to a question about diversity during a forum with minority leaders and journalists. "We're more welcoming to different folks, because that's the type of people we are. But that's not enough. We do have to deliver on things: jobs and housing and business opportunities."
Someone needs to pull Dean's coattails and remind him that insulting potential new voters is not the way to win friends and influence people. Then again, maybe they shouldn't. That way I can pop some popcorn and continue to watch Dean's meltdown, taking the Democratic party along with him.

Posted by: DarkStar at June 8, 2005 07:24 AMI’m telling people, Howard Dean is a ploy to make liberal Democrats look like moderates, pulling the wool over the eyes of moderate Americans who are fed up with liberal agendas. Dean was put in that position for a specific purpose and I think he will be there till the 2006 elections. When Biden and Edwards say he doesn’t speak for them, it makes them look like moderates instead of the liberals they are.
How do you make a plain girl look pretty?
Stand her next to an ugly girl.
How do you make a liberal Democrat look moderate
Stand them next to a rabid left wing democrat.
What's funny is that, with a couple notable exceptions, Dean's actual policy views are pretty moderate, at least compared with the true liberals who are making themselves look centrist by distancing themselves from him in this way.
