Michael Moore whines about Rondstadt firing and gets it wrong -- again.

Michael "Get Outta The Way! He's Gonna Eat The Whole Raw Bar!" Moore is upset over the action taken by Aladdin Casino president Bill Timmons this week.

After headliner Linda Rondstadt tried to dedicate a song to Moore and his propaganda movie, Fahrenheit 9/11, patrons booed the singer. Timmons had Rondstadt not only escorted offstage, but completely out of the hotel, and told not to return.

Anyway, Fatass, bitching like the PMS sufferer he is, sent a complaint letter to Timmons.

"What country do you live in? Last time I checked, Las Vegas is still in the United States. And in the United States, we have something called 'The First Amendment.' This constitutional right gives everyone here the right to say whatever they want to say. All Americans hold this right as sacred. Many of our young people put on a uniform and risk their lives to defend it. My film is all about asking the questions that should have been asked before those brave soldiers were sent into harms way," he [Moore] wrote.

"For you to throw Linda Ronstadt off the premises because she dared to say a few words in support of me and my film, is simply stupid and Un-American. Frankly, I have never heard of such a thing happening. I read that you wouldn't even let her go back up to her room at your hotel! Are you crazy? For crying out loud, it was a song DEDICATION! To 'Desperado!' Every American loves that song! Sure, some people didn't like the dedication, and that's their right. But neither they nor you have the right to remove her from your building when all she did was exercise her AMERICAN right to speak her mind."

Last I checked, your right to freedom of speech doesn't guarantee you a stage to speak from, you idiot!

She was hired to sing, not pontificate!

My advice to Linda Rondstadt: Shaddap and sing! You wanna preach, go pay for your own damn pulpit!

I don't know why celebrities think we even CARE what their political views are.
I pay to hear them sing, or watch them act in a movie, not listen to their thoughts. I really don't give a rip what they think, about anything.

The First Amendment Of the Constitution of The United States of America

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Hmmm... well, Ronstadt wasn't prevented from saying anything. She said her piece and the owner of the establishment kicked her to the curb for it. I don't see anything wrong with Timmons firing her. He doesn't even need a reason provided he had an AT WILL agreement with Ronstadt.

The thing that always kills me when someone finds fault with Michael Moore or his film... they always attack him for his weight. Hell, any intelligent person could come up with forty or fifty things to bag on Moore. For instance, he's a sensationalistic journalist not much better at what he does than say any average writer for the National Enquirer, he doesn't always verify his facts and the ones he does verify are sometimes overblown in importance. Saying any of these things would make you sound like a reasonable, intelligent albeit conservative supporter of Bush. Alluding that Michael Moore as a gluttonous slob just makes you read like a rightwing moron.

That's what makes America great! I can say whatever I want, where ever I want and not be arrested, tortured or persecuted for my beliefs. Of course, this is your blog so you could just exercise your right to censorship by deleting my post if you like.

Moore is right! That damn Linda Ronstadt Act is really, y'know, evil! Darn that Congress for passing it!

Anyway, E!, I invariably refer to Moore as a "lying sack of shit" rather than a "gluttonous slob", so your theory doesn't hold water.

Perfect. Oh wait, someone else already said that...alas...it is nice to see other people being right other than me all the time : )

True, she was hired to sing.

According to people, she bashed the casino and the show stunk. The first one alone is good enough to toss her out.

However, the reaction to people who are against Bush, no matter how irrational they are, is starting to get troubling to me.

One point I haven't seen made is: The Aladdin is a private club. It's private only to those who pay the entry fee, but it is *private* properly in the eyes of the law. They can set certain standards provided they do not discriminate on certain basis: They can refuse you admission for not wearing a tie, for example, but they cannot do so because of your race, gender, or religious affiliation.

They *can* limit what you say. Hey, your employer does it all the time, and Ronstadt was *employed* by the Aladdin at that time.

She was not fired/booted because she was a woman, because she was white, or because she was...whatever the hell religion she is or isn't. She was booted because she insulted a lot of people, and those people let it be known they were insulted.

The Aladdin mngmt. did what any good host would do--get the offending party out of there.

What if she sang a song that had a political message? Music is one of the most powerful forms of political art, used by Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan .... and modern musicians/artists in rap, country, et cetera. How can you say you don't care what a musician thinks? Isn't it because the message of their song means something to you that you connect with? We often connect with authors or musicians or artists because something in their message connects with us on some deep level. It's great that as an artist and performer, Rondstandt unleased strong emotions in her audience. I'd like to read the entire transcript of all of her on-stage talking before making any strong judgments, but if you only want to hear the music and not the on-stage talking, just buy the CD and stay home. The reason we go to live performances is to hear what these musicians have to say. Freedom of speech was being exercised by the patrons who disagreed, but throwing cocktails at Rondstadt and blackballing her from the establishment was way over the top. C'mon, America, be willing to listen, even if you disagree.

Some people need to pull their head out and get a clue. A lot of us just like the sound of music, a particular instrument or a voice and we don't analyze the lyrics to determine if we like it or not. It's truly audacious, not to mention presumptuous, of anyone to suggest that any of us stay home and listen to a CD if we're not willing to listen to performers who use their celebrity to spew their political bull shit. I spend my hard earned money for entertainment and I don't appreciate performers that turn their concerts into mini political rallies at my expense.

to Mr. Bill Timmons: i just want to thank you for the stance you took with michael moore in regard to the linda ronstadt situation. i believe she was hired to sing and entertain your guests not to make comments and michael moore needs to wake up and smell the roses. you also have rights and when an entertainer comes onto ur property and he/she is hired to entertain, that is what they should do. their personal comments should be kept to themselves and not foisted on people who really dont care what his/her feelings about certain subjects are.

I recieved a copy of The Moore Letter and The Reply from Mr.Bill Timmons.
I loved it....
I think the people in Hollywood who think their opinions are so important should get a reality check.

Thank You Mr. Timmons!!!!!!!

I. Like Others Am Sick Of The Political Celebrities. Most Run Down This Country. But Continue To Stay Here And Reap The Benefits. I Would Like To See Them And Moore Shipped Out To N. Korea Or Some Other Communist Country Of Their Choice. But I Know The Spineless Liar And Crew Will Never Leave. I Just Hope More People Like Timmons Kicks The Scum Out In The Trash Heap Where They Belong. STOP SUPPORTING THESE IDIOTS. They Only Laugh All The Way To The Bank Off Your Money While Trying To Destroy Your Home.
