Michael "I could eat an entire house" Moore registered to vote in Michigan AND New York

Michael "I'm so famished I could eat a truck tire" Moore is registered to vote simultaneously in both New York City and his home state of Michigan (and of course, The Smoking Gun is there...).

Last I checked, you could only be legally registered in one place to vote.

"I am an Independent," the filmmaker told reporters. "I'm not a member of the Democratic party."

Which is not exactly correct.

New York City Board of Elections records show that Moore, 50, registered to vote in Gotham in 1992, checking off "Democratic" as his party affiliation (below you'll find a copy of his original registration form). He listed his address as the swanky Upper West Side building where he owns a multimillion dollar condominium (Moore's office is on West 57th Street). The filmmaker's New York registration remains active, though he has not voted since an October 2001 Democratic runoff election.

Now here's the good part: Moore is simultaneously registered to vote in Michigan, where registrants aren't even given the option of party affiliation (so he's not an Independent there either). According to Antrim County records, Moore registered last April from his lakefront spread in northern Michigan, where he reportedly splits his time (he transferred his drivers license to Michigan from New York around the same time, though Moore has a Volkswagen Beetle registered from his Manhattan home).

So, which is it, Fatass? Contrary to your waistline, you can't have your cake and eat it too...

Perhaps he has a special dispensation to own two voting shares... since he does occupy the space of at least two voters. *slaps self*

It would mean something if Mikey actually tried to vote in both states, but it's not all that difficult for one's name to be on voter rolls in more than one state. For all I know, I'm still registered in California despite having left ten years ago.

Maybe somebody can "Roger and Me" the blubberbutt this November to make sure he doesn't try to vote in both states.

I guess someone can check the records to see if he's purchased airplane tickets for that day . . . (hint, hint)

He's 50!?

I wonder if he will vote at one state while some other "Mr. Moore" *votes* at the other state. It wouldn't be the first time the dems attached themselves to the "vote early vote often" electioneering camp.

LOL! Isn't that a shocker La Shawn? I took him to be 10 years my junior at very least, not nearly 10 years my senior. ROFL

This is such an outrageous and slanderous post.
When you re-register after moving to a new county,
the new county does not always inform the old county of your new registration... you can stay on the roll of the original county indefinitely, depending on how often they purge the rolls... i'm sure that when I moved from Mass. to California, i was probably on the voter rolls back in Mass. even though I changed registrations within a week of moving to Cali... this is a huge flaw in the system since we don't have national databases (i'm not necessarily advocating them either)... but you don't have one shred of evidence that Moore is trying to maintain two active registrations, or that he has ever voted twice in the same election.

All the facts show is that he registered in 1992 in N.Y., and just recently changed his registration to Michigan. Do you know how long it takes for registrars in N.Y. to update their rolls? I didn't think so.

Peace,
Joe

P.S. Wow... the weight remarks are pretty tasteless... of course this is YOUR blog, and you are perfectly free to do as you wish... but wow... certainly not the high-road.

This is a lot of fuss over nothing.

I had 3 addresses, in 3 different counties, in 1 year. I voted when I was at the 2nd address in the county of the 2nd address. When I moved 3 weeks later, I immediately registered in the new county.

I'm sure I was technically registered in 3 counties by the end of the year. But I only voted in the 2nd county.

Yeah, it's unconscionable to make fun of Michael Moore's weight.

This is a teapot-sized weather system.

I lived in one town for about four years and was registered to vote there. I moved six times, registered to vote in one of the places I lived subsequently, and when I finally moved back to the original town on the seventh move, discovered I had never been removed from the rolls during the intervening seven years or so.

For all I know, they still have me registered there after my next two moves and passage of another five years.

If he tried to vote both places, or use a stand-in, that would be different.

Moore fits in a VW Beetle??

Fausta: actually, he popped the windows out and wears the Beetle like clothing.
