Unconfirmed reports of US G.I. beheading in Iraq

WCPO-TV/DT Cincinnati is reporting this hour that unconfirmed reports from inside Iraq indicate that captured G.I. Matt Maupin, captured in early April may have been decapitated by terrorists in Iraq.

9News heard nothing about the status of Pfc. Matt Maupin, 20, since this videotape a released a week after Maupin was taken hostage.

Then, just after 5 a.m. Monday, 9News received a phone call from ABC News saying Maupin had been executed. At this hour, the military-family spokesperson said he has no official confirmation on Maupin's status.

ABC News employees told 9News there is a videotape of Maupin being shot in the back of the head, but 9News has not seen that videotape.

This is a battle with methods and means not seen before in the annals of western warfare. The US keeps trying to play by Queensbury rules. But everyone needs to realize that the bad guys tossed the rule book out when this whole mess started more than 30 years ago.

That's right. This is only playing out what started when Islamic terrorists kidnapped and murdered Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. And they want nothing short of the extermination of the Western way of life.

Unfortunately, there are too many people who are putting their collective heads in the sand and denying the evil that these cretins represent.

It's time to drop the leash and let the dogs of war loose. It's time to battle the uncivilized world with means that they appear to understand.

"I've come to chew bubble gum and kick ass....and I'm all out of bubble gum."

That quote was a tongue in cheek bit from the John Carpenter cult classic They Live. It's time to employ that mindset in reality.

I wish that afer they violate the 'Geneva Conventions' we follow the original meaning of the conventions... You play by the rules, we'll play by the rules. You violate the rules, we're no longer obliged to...

You execute your prisoners on video, without proper trial, for non internationally recognized 'crimes'.

They've already done enough that we could legally execute our prisoners.

That being said, I see a dramatic reduction in prisoner taking by the marines.

And people still refuse to believe that we are at war???

People still believe that we can compromise with these people???

No compromise, no surrender.

They attack their own countrymen and behead innocents who want to help their people...

They blame the government...they blane the US...But do they not see that THEY are the reason for the 10,000 security contractors and 150,000 American soldiers in their country? Do they really believe that we have colonial ambitions? Christ...I guess they do..

Everyone needs to get their heads out of the sand.

I like the line from the movie "ALIENS".
The one that says "I vote we pull out and nuke em from space". And if pro is the opposite of con what is the opposite of progress???

i don't want to start a riot on here but please remember ABU Grahib. Now to me it is NOT justification for publically beheading a captured Prisoner of War that is just sick. However you have to try and perhaps see it partly from their P.O.V, not the must destroy the west crap but the resentment there is in certain areas about the Coalition's presence. Yes no doubt most Iraqis are grateful to us (you mostly) for removing Saddam but at the same time there is suspicion that you are trying to install your choice of government. Next to many of the fighters they are in no different a position than you were in 1776. people do tend to partly resent foreign soldiers especially when they intentionally or mistakenly cause problems. I know you will have come across Salam Pax's book and he mentions a few instances where a person risked being shot by your troops without any justification. Over Easter i came across an account by some westerners (Americans I think) who were in Fallujah and how they tried to help. They made the impression that they were as risk from American soldiers as from Sadr's merry mob.

I do also however sympathise with the position of your troops. Whether or not it was done for the right reasons or legally the fact remains that removing Saddam was a good thing to do and i would be trigger happy if i was surrounded by people anyone of whom may be carrying a bomb or a gun, people you felt you had helped. A bit of a messy situation.

I would also partly disagree with the "No compromise" approach. Britain as many here know had a serious problem with the IRA up until 1998. We with Bill Clinton and Bertie Ahern sat down with gerry Adams and thrashed out a compromise that gave Sinn Fein and the nationalists a chance to peacefully and democratically get what they want ultimatelty. Actions like Bloody Sunday served no ones purpose.

I have one more example of this. Before the declaration of independence by Israel in 1948 there were numerous Israeli (Zionist really i suppose) terrorist groups the most famous of which being the Stern Gang. British troops were often attacked by these men and after one incident where some soldiers were kidknapped and executed it took a personal call from President Truman to the British commander to stop us razing tel aviv to the ground. Instead we recognised Israel and developed friendly relations with her. The result was that now British people soldiers or otherwise have little or nothing to fear from israelis.

Well, I am about to retire from Uncle Sam's Army after over 30 years. I came in during Viet Nam in 1968, exited in 1970. Came back in 1981 and have been in ever since. I love my job, I love serving my country. I love abiding by the rules of engagement when all abide by the rules of engagement. But these radical, terrorist, murderers kill for the devil - that's right. Allah is none other than Satan, the old devil himself. God the Just and Mighty commands us to love each other, help each other. The only Infidels are the ones who do not do as YHWH says. I am sick and tired of their masquerading behind their false religion and in the name of their lying "god" to take innocent lives. It is time President Bush, Secretary Rumsfeld, General Shoomaker and all else in the chain unleashed all of our ways and means to obliterate these dogs. Our men are nothing but camel dung to these treacherous fiends. For God and country.
Not just "God Bless America, but America, Bless God."
A soldier.
