Clueless Portland jocks fired over Berg comments
A couple of rock & roll disc jockeys who go by the names Marconi and Tiny along with their sidekick Nickie J., were fired from KNRK in Portland, OR after the morning show goons laughed at and made fun of the decapitation murder of Nick Berg this week.
Wednesday, they repeatedly ran audio of the murder, and laughed at it on the air.
KNRK owner Entercom has issued an apology for the incident.
The actions of the KNRK News Morning Show were insensitive, inappropriate and repulsive. On behalf of Entercom Portland and KNRK, I apologize to our listeners.Marconi, host of The Marconi Show on 947NRK, apologized on his website for the incident as well.
Many Portland area listeners are still outraged though.
Portland area talk host Lars Larson of KXL also played the audio of the Berg murder on his show, but not before a strong warning to his listeners.
"I don't think that the America news media can decide for you what you can and cannot see. On the other hand, I don't think this should be on the air and then laughed at and made fun of," Larson told KATU News.Syndicated hosts Sean Hannity and Todd Schnitt also played the audio, with similar warnings. Nick Berg, was a young fool (I'm being kind here) but joshing about his death is abominable--and by the way, let's stop saying "beheaded" Nick Berg's head was hacked/sawed off. Beheaded is a clean instant swish of a blade.

I heard the Marconi Show and yes it was tasteless but not nearly as bad as the media made it out to be.
It was also quickly followed by an apology from the guys on the show via their fan web site.
Just sad how the media runs with a small town story, villifies it and then chumps feel they need to express their ignorant opinion.

I heard what was on the air and I was a strong "sucky" NRK listener. I will never listen to Marconi on any station again. Hello people they were replaying the head getting cut off and laughing. Yeah.... Yeah I'm from portland and to say that is was not that bad is not only stupid but oohh so much more. If that was your friend and they talking about it they way the were; you would be furious! I was so surprised to hear them say what they were saying. I was shocked... It was stupid, not funny and tasteless. What were they thinking??? The fact that I have to write this makes me think how many losers does the USA have??? Don't defend stupidity it makes you look stupid....
